Welcome to Room 3 pm where the children learn through hands-on exploration and discovery.

Welcome Students and Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to room 5 and Glanklers preschool program. I hope you all had a good summer break.

The first few weeks of school we will be getting used to school, learning the schedule and making new friends. The Paraeducators that work in the room are Doreen and Susan. We have been working together for a number of years. We all welcome you to Glankler.

Here are a few things I would like to advise you of:

  1. The class activities are organized through UNITS related to the interest of preschoolers. You will be receiving information monthly when each unit begins and any activities or field trips included in that unit. The information will list some of the activities that we will be doing so you have an idea of what is going on during their school day.
  2. Please send your child to school in clothing that can get dirty and/or even stained. We sometimes use paint and other medium, which might not launder easily. We do use paint shirts but accidents sometimes happen. Learning for preschoolers is done primarily through exploration and experience, which sometimes means getting dirty.
  3. Please send a set of extra clothing (shirt, pants, underwear if toilet trained and socks) since accidents do happen. We will keep the spare clothes in their backpack and will use them when there is an accident. Please send replacements the following day if the extra clothes were used.
  4. It is very helpful if your child comes to school with an average sized backpack. We put their artwork, jacket (if the weather warmed up), snack bags, and any written notes from the school office or me in the backpack. This helps keep lost items to a minimum.
  5. Please send a snack each day with your child in a sack or lunch box. That way the children can practice carrying their own snacks to the snack table. We will have occasional cooking activities that will be served during the snack time any extra snack items and extra cooking items will be sent home with your child. That way you know how much of their snack they ate and they can show you their cooking projects.
  6. If your child is going to be absent, please contact the school office before class time (651-1190). Please do not send your child to school if they have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sneezing/runny nose/eyes watering, and/or if they have a yellow or green runny nose. The school district requires that the children are symptom free without the aid of medicine for 24 hours before they come back to school.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you and welcome back to school.
